Annual Conference

2017 Keep Florida Beautiful Annual Conference

By every measurement, the Keep Florida Beautiful (KFB) annual statewide conference, hosted by Keep Martin Beautiful in Martin County this year, was a huge success. Nearly 100 participants representing 43 KFB affiliates from across the state gathered at the Hutchinson Island Marriott from June 7 through 9, 2017 to share ideas for improving cities and counties throughout Florida while they enjoyed a taste of Martin County’s natural beauty and small town charm.

“This was the most-well planned and executed conference in our history,” said KFB executive director Mary Jean Yon. Attendees received meaningful educational training and also had an opportunity to enjoy local dining and shopping in downtown Stuart and other parts of Martin County and also to explore area beaches and cultural offerings such as the Florida Oceanographic Center and the Elliott Museum. “Keep Martin Beautiful and its board and staff certainly took our annual conference to a new level and we appreciate the time they invested in making the experience a good one for all of our affiliates.”

2016 Keep Florida Beautiful Annual Conference

The pieces were in place for major success during the Keep Florida Beautiful (KFB)/Keep America Beautiful Affiliates of Florida (KABAF) Annual Conference in Sarasota. Affiliates from all over the state met on June 10, 2016 to find more effective ways to protect the environment. The conference theme was “Building Your Team… Piece by Piece.” Participants focused on ways they can work together to educate citizens on how to keep the highways and waterways litter-free as well as ways to promote recycling efforts.

Education and awareness are key to ensuring Floridians reduce, reuse and recycle. Officials with Keep America Beautiful shared their nationwide goals that will help protect resources: 1) end littering by 35 percent in the next 10 years, 2) improve recycling awareness by 25 percent and 3) beautify one million public places. Everyone can be a part of driving home the message and putting the pieces together to keep our paradise litter-free.
